School Meals Menu – Spring/ Summer 2024

Early Years ‘Family Dining’

At St Peter’s Elwick we believe that meal times are for bonding and communication.

The dinner table is a place of community. Eating together gives us the opportunity to talk, laugh and share. Taking time out to catch up and talk lets us truly connect.

In Nursery, we provide a ‘family dining experience’ for our children. We use these times to model healthy eating behaviours, meal etiquette and social skills. All of our Early Years children learn how to set a table, how to use a knife and fork, develop table manners and etiquette, try new foods and develop social skills through meal times.

School Dinners

From September 2014 every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 no longer have to pay for a school dinner. They are entitled to universal free school meal.

At St Peter’s Elwick, our cook prepares fresh healthy school meals every day. Often these dishes are based on home favourites. We hope that all pupils will take up this offer.

Eating a healthy meal is known to improve behaviour, concentration and the ability to achieve. That’s why it’s especially important for children to eat a delicious, healthy meal at school.

A lot is asked of pupils and students throughout the school day. We believe that a balanced, healthy school lunch is vital to help make sure they’re nutritionally re-charged to work through the afternoon and able to deliver their best.
