Data, Monitoring & Communication with Families
Leaders and staff analyse attendance patterns weekly, half termly and annually, at whole school, group and individual levels, so that concerns are identified early and support is put in pace before absence becomes persistent. At Hart Primary School we view absence as a first sign of disengagement and we want to unpick and reaffirm that your child ‘belongs’.
Families receive half‑termly attendance information; if you’d like to discuss it, please contact Mrs McLaren/Miss Crowe. We submit data through the DfE Attendance Portal and share updates with governors and wider stakeholders.
DfE Guidance & Legislation (for parents who want the detail)
Your child’s attendance is guided by the following:
- Working together to improve school attendance (DfE) and Parental responsibility measures for behaviour and attendance (DfE)
- Education Act 1996 (Part 6); Education Act 2002 (Part 3); Education and Inspections Act 2006 (Part 7)
- School Attendance (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 (with amendments 2010/2011/2013/2016) and the School Attendance (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2024
- Education (Penalty Notices) (England) Regulations 2013 and the 2024 amendment
- School census guidance (DfE) (explains the persistent‑absence threshold)
These are the sources behind our school procedures and the legal framework for attendance.
