Subject Visions

Our Christian Vision underpins all aspects of school life, including the St Peter’s Curriculum offer, subject leader visions and pedagogy.

| English | Children will develop the skills and knowledge that will enable them to communicate effectively and creatively through spoken and written language and equip them with the skills to become lifelong learners |
| Maths | To ensure children leave school with a well-rounded understanding of mathematics, be confident in their understanding of mathematical vocabulary and the ability to apply their knowledge and skills of mathematics across the curriculum and wider world. |
| RE | To develop knowledge and understanding of religious and non-religious worldviews, practices, tradition and culture. To contribute effectively to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. |
| Science | High quality science education that inspires pupils to, and prepares them for, work in scientific industries. Synthesised knowledge that enables children to think critically about the world around them and solve problems that are yet to be discovered. |
| Computing | For our pupils to: Understand the fundamental principles and concepts of information and technology. (Foundations – Digital living skills) Know how to apply their skills to create programs, systems, and a range of content. (Applications – Digital working skills) Be digitally literate, creative, and active participants in a digital world. (Implications – Digital specialism) |
| French | To develop a range of vocabulary, a knowledge of French phonemes and an understanding of basic grammar in order to be able to communicate practically, and with enjoyment in French by reading, writing, listening and speaking. |
| History | To inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past, through exploring significance, continuity and change, cause and consequence and using evidence. |
| Geography | For children to be environmentally aware, local, and global citizens and inquisitive and informed geographers. |
| Art | To develop a well-rounded artist with a depth of subject knowledge, secure skills base and an understanding of the wider artistic world and cultures. |
| Music | To provide a high-quality musical education that is creative, collaborative, celebratory and ambitious for all children. |
| PSHE and RHE | To equip pupils with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to make informed and ethical decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships. Our curriculum helps prepare pupils for the opportunities and responsibilities of adult life, and promote their moral, social, mental and physical development. |
| PE | To develop knowledge and understanding of religion, religious beliefs and practices, tradition and culture, promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and to prepare all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of the present and the future. To become courageous advocates for themselves and others. |
| Design and Technology | To enable children to make sense of the ‘made world’ in which they live, through applying their substantive and disciplinary knowledge to design soloutions to solve problems, preparing them for work in design industries. |
