Early Years \u2018Family Dining\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At St. Peter’s Elwick we believe that meal times are for bonding and communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dinner table is a place of\ncommunity. Eating together gives us the opportunity to talk, laugh and share.\nTaking time out to catch up and talk lets us truly connect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Nursery, we provide a \u2018family\ndining experience\u2019 for our children. We use these times to model healthy eating\nbehaviours, meal etiquette and social skills. All of our Early Years children\nlearn how to set a table, how to use a knife and fork, develop table manners\nand etiquette, try new foods and develop social skills through meal times.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School Dinners <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From September 2014 every child in\nReception, Year 1 and Year 2 no longer have to pay for a school dinner. They\nare entitled to universal free school meal.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At St. Peter’s Elwick, our cook prepares fresh healthy school meals every day. Often these dishes are based on home favourites. We hope that all pupils will take up this offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eating\na healthy meal is known to improve behaviour, concentration and the ability to\nachieve. That\u2019s why it\u2019s especially important for children to eat a\ndelicious, healthy meal at school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot is asked of pupils and students throughout the school day. We believe that a balanced, healthy school lunch is vital to help make sure they\u2019re nutritionally re-charged to work through the afternoon and able to deliver their best.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
