At St. Peter’s Elwick we have a culture of vigilance<\/strong>, which is underpinned by robust procedures and driven by \u2018all children<\/strong> have a right to be cared for and protected – protecting them is everyone\u2019s responsibility\u2019<\/strong>. This is strengthened further by our Trust wide 3 Cs \u2013 operational consistency<\/strong>, Trust wide communication<\/strong> and continuous<\/strong> development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stated above everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times<\/strong>, what is in the best interests of the child.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staff members working with children are advised to maintain an attitude of \u2018it could happen here\u2019<\/strong> where safeguarding is concerned. When concerned about the welfare of a child, staff members should always act in the best interests of the child.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
